Community-Based Treatment of the Incest Family

An expanded version of the dissociative disorders concept is presented followed by a description of the community-based child sexual abuse treatment program (CSATP), conducted by the Institute for the Community as Extended Family (ICEF). The CSATP integrates traditional in-office therapy and the peer-support services of the clients, who bolster each other emotionally and in practical matters. Also described is ICEF’s training project in which CSATP therapists and clients jointly train official interveners from other communities to work collaboratively toward family reconstruction in their transactions with victims of incest and their families.
